Product Introduction

A strong, colorless to slightly yellow aqueous acid (~48% w/w HBr), with acrid odor. Used as a brominating and dehydrating agent in organic synthesis, production of inorganic bromides, catalyst in esterifications, isomerization, ore extraction, and phenolic ether deprotection.

Applications

  • Corrosive, harmful by inhalation or contact. OSHA TWA ≤3 ppm; NIOSH REL 3 ppm. Store in corrosion-resistant containers, use full PPE and fume hood.
